Development of Outdoor Provision

Development of the Outdoor Space
The outdoor space is a valuable resource for the School, it offers a space for play, sport, events, curriculum enrichment and connection to the environment. The School is working with the PTA and undertaking a review of the outdoor space, examining how it is being used and how it can be used better, considering growing pupil numbers.
This provides us with an opportunity to design playful, imaginative and inspiring spaces, multi-functional areas which will be used throughout the day for different activities.
By February the aim is to have an overall plan for the site with some detailed designs of priority areas. There will be projects big and small, some will be delivered in the spring, while others may take years and require funding applications. All will contribute to the healthy, fun and educational experience of children at st Agnes ACE Academy.
To achieve this goal we are conducting a design process working with a Landscape Architect funded by the PTA. We hope to involve all those who work on and use the School site. There will be an audit to identify key issues, after analysing the results we will start to look for ideas and solutions. Once issues have been prioritised and the best ideas agreed a masterplan of the site will be created and the detailed design of specific areas will be worked up.
This will be a fun and interesting task for the School community to get involved in. Reception and KS1 children will be asked to design their perfect playground from scrap material while KS2 will be tasked with being a 'Designer for a Day' and potentially make a video presentation of their findings.
Information from previous consultations will also be brought into the work.
How can you help?
As parents, carers and other regular users of the site we value your thoughts and there are lots of ways that you can help:-
  • Please complete the questionnaire
  • There will be various points throughout the process when your opinions and ideas will be sorted, including at the christmas Fayre
  • Continue to support any fundraising activities
  • If you like to get your hands dirty there will be practical jobs that we will be asking for help on.
For those wishing to get more involved in the decision making and the design there will be some dedicated workshops on some of the themes, a steering group and some project delivery teams. If you are interested in getting more involved please leave your details at reception or speak to your class teacher.
